The following information in logs ought to be more informative I think. 

2006/10/16 14:53:10 BGP: vty_read: read error on vty client fd XX, closing: 
Connection reset by peer.

I've been trying to find out, what causes this error, while answer was simple, 
it was tcp-port check done by Nagios. So I postulate for a better erroe message
 :)
